Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation

The first step in receiving the right help for a mental health problem is receiving a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation.

Dr. Mizelle will take special care in gathering information to determine the most likely diagnosis

and effective treatment.

The treatment plan will include collaboration with a patient’s treatment team, including his or her therapist, primary care physician, and other involved specialist. This, he believes, is paramount to optimizing the quality of healthcare and, in turn, the treatment outcome.

Medication Management

Dr. Mizelle has a conservative approach to prescribing medicine and reserve this option only for instances where the potential benefits of treatment outweigh the risk.

Some problems are so severe and persistent that they have serious negative consequences for the patient and family if untreated.

Psychotherapy

Dr. Mizelle use psychotherapy as a treatment to help patients and families understand and resolve problems, modify behavior, and make positive changes in their lives.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has proven to be a type of therapy Dr. Mizelle uses.

Research has proven CBT a type of effective psychotherapy that emphasizes identifying maladaptive patterns of thinking or behaving, and replace them with more balanced thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

Buprenorphine Treatment

The FDA has approved a medication called buprenorphine to treat patients with addiction to opiates (heroin, Vicodin, OxyContin, Percocet, etc).

Buprenorphine is highly effective for helping people stop the use of opiates.

Prescribing this medication requires additional training and certification.

Dr. Mizelle is among the few physicians in the area who offers this service.
